Goddamn, Zohran Mamdani’s win really is making that polarized divide show its face bad. While most people on the liberal and left of the aisle are celebrating, the right is bringing out 1890’s levels of bigotry and 9/12/2001 levels of Islamophobia.

Since the win I have seen:
Claims he’s part of “the invasion”
Claims his day 1 plan includes enacting Shira Law
Claims he’s a “Jihadi”
Claims he doesn’t believe Israel has the right to exist (which is bs and we all know it)
Claims he’s a terrorist (echoed by a congressman from TN)
Claims he’s an Iranian agent(???)
Calls for him to be “denaturalized” (also echoed by said Congress member)
Calls for laws to be made so “people like him can’t win”
Seen *reporters* ask if he wants “Soviet Union Style” grocery stores on every street corner

It’s gonna be a very long several months until the election and then a very long term if/when Mamdani wins
