Empowered & Prepared: A Teach-In on Safety Skills and Nervous System Regulation
In uncertain times, our best defense is a calm, connected community. Join us for Empowered & Prepared, a hands-on teach-in designed to give Indiana 50501 volunteers and community members practical tools for staying safe—without compromising our commitment to nonviolence and mutual care.
Led by a multidisciplinary team of facilitators—Captain Crunch (veteran and candidate for U.S. Congress), Orion (former law enforcement), Quartz Badger (nurse practitioner), and Yogi (nervous system regulation guide)—this workshop will cover:
Bleed Response & Emergency First Aid: Quartz Badger will guide us through Stop the Bleed–inspired techniques to provide care in emergencies.
Smart, Centered Self-Defense: Captain Crunch and Orion will co-lead this session, offering practical, trauma-aware strategies for situational awareness, boundary-setting, and self-protection—grounded in nonviolence and de-escalation.
Nervous System Regulation: Yogi will guide somatic tools to help us stay grounded, present, and responsive in high-stress situations.
Community Coordination & Mindset: We’ll close with an open, collaborative conversation exploring what safety, solidarity, and preparedness mean to us as a movement—sharing strategies for showing up with courage and care.
Whether you're organizing on the front lines, canvassing in your neighborhood, or simply trying to stay resilient in challenging times, this workshop offers skills and support to help you move through the world with strength, intention, and integrity.
