Dr. Clyde Posley

Dr. Clyde Posley Jr. is the Moderator/Bishop of the Union District Baptist Association in Indianapolis, Indiana, the largest association of churches within the General Missionary Baptist State Convention. This organization brings the strength of local churches into a unified effort to address a wide-ranging set of social needs including COVID vaccine distribution, food desert insecurity, institutional racism, youth initiatives and Christian education development, including broad-based employment initiatives, and more. Dr. Posley, is the Senior Pastor of the Antioch Fountain of Grace Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN, and has served in this role for 25 years. Dr. Posley also serves as First Vice President of the General Missionary Baptist State Convention of Indiana, under President Dr. Raymond Dix Jr. Dr. Posley also serves as the first civilian Chairman of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s Civilian/ Police lead General Orders Board and in conjunction with Faith in Indiana and A.C.T. Indy. Dr. Posley has been instrumental in healing divides between law enforcement and citizenry; particularly within Gun Violence intervention and Police action transparency. He has worked to establish significant changes related to gun violence intervention throughout the state, abuse of force policy changes for central Indiana and he has also worked to bring policy changes designed to promote better community harmony between the Indianapolis policing policies and citizen relationships. Dr. Posley is also an author. Using Dr. Martin Luther King’s non-violent principles, he has written several school curriculums teaching children and staff how to integrate with various cultures in a non-violent manner. His newly released book: More than Icons and Images: Uncovering the Hidden Protest Narrative of American Black Athlete in the 21 st Century, provides a historical context for current American socio/political protests among Black Athletes. As the former president of the Pastors and Ministers Division of Union District Baptist Association, of Indianapolis, IN, Dr. Posley authored a comprehensive ministerial training curriculum for Christian associate ministers entitled: The Christian Ministers Training Manual Dr. Posley has an earned Ph.D. in interdisciplinary studies from Union Institute and University, in Cincinnati, OH, with concentrations in Humanities, Cultural Studies and M.L. King Scholarship. His 2015 dissertation is entitled: The embodiment of the Black male student-athlete: A case-study of the 1968 medal stand protest. He was later awarded an Honorary Doctorate in the field of Social Justice from Habakkuk Bible College. Dr. Posley’s latest work is on Amazon.com.
